They called him LORD

The bible is the Book of God. One God who calls himself the LORD.
It is divided into two testaments which are witnesses of his deity and humanity. The Old Testament bares witness to his deity by the prophets,  Kings and Judges. The New Testament bares witness to this one Lord by his disciples, followers, and church.
Joshua  called the Lord God.(Joshua 22;22). “The Mighty One, God, the LORD! The Mighty One, God, the LORD!
Isaiah called the LORD, God (Isaiah 25:1). Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name,
Jeremiah called the Lord, God (Jeremiah 32:27) I am the Lord, the God of all mankind. Is anything too hard for me?
King David called the LORD, God. (Psalm 100:3) ‘For the Lord he is God it is he that has made us not we ourselves.’
King Solomon called the LORD God. (1 Kings 8;23) And he said, LORD God of Israel, there is no God like thee, in heaven above, or on earth beneath,
Zechariah calls God the Lord (Zech 14;9) ‘The Lord will be king over the whole earth. On that day there will be one Lord, and his name the only name.’
God himself calls himself the LORD GOD. “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.” (Rev 1;8).

The LORD he is God
The title ‘LORD’ is applied to Jesus over 500 times in the New Testament.
Mark called the LORD, God. ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ (Mark 12;30).
Thomas called the Lord God. (John 20;28) ‘My Lord and My God. ‘
Paul called the LORD, God. (Titus 2;13) ‘Our great God and saviour, Jesus Christ.’
Jesus called HIMSELF the LORD GOD. (Luke 4;8) ‘And Jesus answered and said to him, ‘It is written, “YOU SHALL WORSHIP THE LORD YOUR GOD, and Him only you shall serve.’

NB. The word LORD is capitalised in the bible because it refers to God and JESUS Christ. The one and self same being. (Philippians 2;11) ..that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

The Pre-eminence of Jesus

He has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of His beloved Son, 14. in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. 15The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.  16.For in Him all things were created, things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities. All things were created through Him and for Him.

He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. And He is the head of the body, the church; He is the beginning and firstborn from among the dead, so that in ALL THINGS  He (Jesus) may have preeminence. For God was pleased to have all His fullness dwell in Him, 20 and through Him to reconcile to Himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through the blood of His cross. (Colossians 1:13-19).

Preminence means first place. No one should call him a ‘second person’ because he has preeminence in ALL things. Preeminence as to his deity, supremacy, sovereignity and person. He has pre-eminence in all things. He has preeminence because all of deity dwells full in him. He therefore has all the ability of God all the wisdom of God and all the power of God.

Christ the image of God
God is Spirit that is invisible hence he has no visible feet hands etc ‘image’ no likeness or No one like him. but Christ… ‘We note accordingly (1) that the word “image” (like the word “form,”Philippians 2:6,7) is used in the New Testament for real and essential embodiment, as distinguished from mere likeness.’ (Ellicotts). No one like him, hence he is the image of the invisible God or he is God himself.

Gods person was the beginning of all creation
Rev 3;14 the beginning of creation The person of the Lord is unbegotten uncreated and from everlasting to everlasting he is God. Christ is the visible representation of the invisible God, the Firstborn and Lord of all creation. (WEYMOUTH)

The first born of every creature
This is not a reference to ‘the Son of God’ This verse is telling us that the first bron is the invisdible God, who became flesh. (son). He is the firstborn, the first one who existed the self existing one, not born of another. and that he made peace through his blood. The only begotten ion John1:14 is not the Son born of Mary But Jehovah. Col 1:15

Christ has all preeminence.
Why because the fulness of all deity dwells in him.
He hath declared him. ‘ He’ ekinos He and He alone. He and only he can declare him. He and only he can manifest him. He and he alone can be him. The pronouin is emphatic. Jesus alone is the revelation and revealer of God. Jesus is the light, life and and begotten Son ‘ekinois’
In him was life (1;) and and from him comes all life. The word life is described 17 times as eternal ‘aionions‘ life by John in his gospel of the life. from him ‘eternity’ gets its energy. He is the bread from heaven, the ‘living bread’ or ‘the bread of life’ and from him all life gets his energy. All sustenance, food, energy and life comes from him he is the living bread. that feeds all men LIFE!

The logos, God’s own voice. establishes nations, declares all things to be, calls worlds into existence, calls hidden things into visibility. systems and intelligences, all things imagines spoken and thought by himself into being and to comprehend the life of Christ is to comprehend the life of GOD.

Christ the Light
Light is the main theme of Johns gospel and in verse four after declaring Jesus the logos or the mind thought will and intelligence of God he declares him to be the light. John the Baptist called himself the lamp later he calls himself a voice (John1:23) while Jesus is called the light, a light gives light only after it has been lit. but Christ was always, form the beginning of the world, the light of the world and the light of life.  (John 8:12 Psalm 27:1).
