Religious Rules & Rituals or Redemption

RULES, RITUALS

Why prayer religiously five times a day, Why repent over and over as if God does not take notice of your prayers. Do you really think God is honoured when we sacrifice like this?
The truth is you can never pray enough, you can never fast enough, you can never do enough good deeds for others to earn you way into God’s good book! These things are what religion tells us and yes religion would not be religion without these religious duties performed over and over and over again seeking to God get attention.

Religious works dot make a man better sometimes they make him bitter. I was talking to a Muslim some ytars ago who told me that he was fed up with Islam he said I’ve prayer many times a day to All for over 25 years and he’s never answered my prayers! He was angry frustrated and felt betrayed by his book!

Jesus offers a solution

Look what Jesus said to the religious. ‘But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in. 14Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows’ houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater damnation.’ (Matthew 23:27). You think that by praying long prayers repeating yourself over and over you make yourself religious.

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye are like unto whited sepulchres, which indeed appear beautiful outward, but are within full of dead men’s bones, and of all uncleanness. 28Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity. (Matthew23:27,28).

Jesus offers a solution, He came to change the system. the cross and his death were the ultimate sacrifice, all other sacrifices were to cease being made by the jews and his followers. He was the ultimate sacrifice and final sacrifice according to the prophets before him.

(Hebrews 10:1- 4) “The law is only a shadow of the good things to come, not the realities themselves. It can never, by the same sacrifices offered year after year, make perfect those who draw near to worship. Otherwise, would they not have ceased to be offered? For the worshipers would have been cleansed once for all, and would no longer have felt guilty for their sins. Instead, those sacrifices are an annual reminder of sins, because it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.”

REDEMPTION

Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law being made a curse for us
The law, however, is not based on faith; on the contrary, “The man who does these things will live by them.” 13Christredeemedusfromthecurseof the law by becoming a curse for us. For it is written:“ Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.”14He redeemed us in order that the blessing promised to Abraham would come to the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.… (Galatians 3:13,14).

Once for All: Jesus has sacrificed himself once and for all. His sacrifice is a superior one. because his holiness is a superior holiness and his way is a new way. Unlike the repeated sacrifices of the Old Covenant, his sacrifice is eternal  Hebrews 10:10 affirms, “And by that will, we have been sanctified through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.”

Perfect and Complete: Christ’s sacrifice fulfilled all the requirements of the law, none of us by sacrificing day in and day out can do this His blood is greater than the blood of berasts because he alone is holy and without sin.  Hebrews 10:14 states, “For by a single offering He has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified.”

Should we pray, yes! but we pray, tythe, go to Gods house, YES! but we do these things out of devotion not out of duty, It’s a love walk! Salvation is God’s gift of righteousness. its a gift that cannot be earned only given. our own righteousness is as filthy rags, God’s righteousness is what we need and its free to the repentant.   For if by the trespass of one man death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive and abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ’  (Romans 5:17).

Pulpit Cleanup

When Jesus saw Nathaniel approaching, he said of him, “Here is a true Israelite in whom there is no guile.” (John 1:47)

The word “guile” is translated “deceit” in NASB. “Covetous” in INT (Biblos Interlinear Bible). in English “guile.”  “Trickery” as in Matt 26:4. or “craft” as in a method they used to capture Jesus and put him to death. The word describes one who uses “methods” “craftiness” to lure his prey or again one whose trade “craft” or employment it is to lure use “the faith” as a means of personal gain and benefit. or one who uses religion to advance their own self interest.

Cares, Snares and The evil of Guile!

PULPIT CLEANUP.

Christianity, I prefer to say the faith once delivered as there is a difference between today’s Christianity and the “faith once delivered.” The faith of those of “the way” was in serving him, the Lord. Denial of yourself and taking up ones cross. Self had died, self must die. Selfish ambition personal ideals of success must die for it in in death we find our life and that life is most characterised by us revealing him. The gain we have then is Christlikeness and eternal life.

The word “Guile in the Greek means “deceit” “bait” or “snare.” its what happens when we are lulled by the media and Hollywood into a state where we think that we too have to be like the world in order to be seen as a success. Its when we embrace their ideas, “guile” and smile that we begin to contaminate our core being.

I saw a young preacher the other day, he had come to UK and was enjoying it too. He was enjoying the attention and played to the crowd, he boasted of his Lamborghini and how a teacher once told him that an entire class of children wanted to be a prophet like him when they grew up. He strutted the platform, arrogantly commanded folks to come forward, he had an air of brazenness that was rooted in arrogance.

Since when have we the right to talk abruptly and disrespectfully to folks under the disguise of authority?  Success, style, pulpit theatrics, showmanship, shouting, ranting and raving, trademarks of the carnal, the self motivated and the self proclaimed prophet, luring young people into performance preaching, entertainment church, no humility and all self. The anointing is not arrogant or rude or self promoting ( 1Cor 14). If we have not love we are a sounding cymbal. Go home preacher learn respect and what it means to love others first then when self has been conquered enter the pulpit.

As Charles Spurgeon states,  “Depart from evil,”.. Go away from it. Not merely take your hands off  but yourself off…  “seek peace”.. not merely prefer it, but with zeal and care promote it.”

When I see arrogance in the pulpit its because of “Guile” in a man’s soul.  When I see rage in the pulpit and pastors getting ticked off with members and correcting them unnecessarily in public, its because of anger in the soul that they have contacted and contracted from the world. A spirit has got on them, a spirit of “guile” and they know it not. Preacher, don’t being your demons to church.

Guile is a contractual disease. As a young revival preacher in America in the nineties, my friend who is my Pastor in US told me “Paul, there are men who when they come to America go to certain cities and leave as a different person. There are spirits in cities that as younger them that spirit there, enters you. You can go to Philadelphia or California and go home different. I’ve seen preachers who go to America the next minute they are in UK making up multiple offerings that let for twenty minutes, “We need ten people to give one thousand pound we need ten people to give five hundred.. ” they are “beguiled” by wandering spirits, easily seduced and swayed by glitz and the gold and some the girls too.

Who has “beguiled” you? said Paul, “bewitched” you, “put a spell on you!” (Gal 3:1) Beware of seducing spirits that reside in uncommon places that attract your soul even when you have Godly intentions in it. As men and missionaries we must go with pure intentions not intentions that suggest we go there for personal gain. If you are going to going a foreign country, go there for God! Yes God, not for gold or glitz, but God.

Jesus saw Nathaniel under a fig tree, not a city, as I wondered what then is the significance of the fig tree? Remember that when Adam and Eve sinned, they used the leaves of the fig tree to cover up their nakedness (Gen 3:7). Just like men who used the ministry to cover up theirs. But Nathaniel was found by Jesus by the fig tree. God help us to be found by the fig tree. I need that covering, I need don’t you! God find me in that place where I realise that I’m exposed without your covering, fnd me at the fig tree.

In him was no guile!

My final point, I judge myself in this. God has been showing me that “public performance is no cover up for a mind that is far from God.” Let me explain. I noticed that over a few weeks I began to think more and more on my troubles when we were in praise and worship. God got my attention when I realised that God knew my heart and that although I had lifted hands and sang the words of the songs, my problems and not God was the thing that was really on my mind. Yes “guile” was at work in me. I repented and decided to worship God with my mind as wells my soul. Now i’m enjoying church better. I go to church for one thing to worship him, If I’m preaching its to exalt him. Self can’t live in pew or pulpit. self must die!

PRAY WITH ME: What was said about Nathaniel Lord, I would love to hear you say that about me. “In him was no guile” Create in me a clean heart Lord and renew a right spirit within me!”
Amen.

Modern Day Idolatry in the House of the Lord

Thou shalt have no other Gods but me (Exodus 20:3)
Thou shalt not make any graven image (Exodus 20:4)
God calls idolatry blasphemy!
The true God is invisible making a god which one can see is therefore idolatry. When man makes an idol that he can see, an idol that pleases his senses Whether these man made images of wood or stone or glass being a Cathedral of in a paupers home, idols are forbidden. My glory will not give to another neither my praise to graven images (Isaiah 43:8). the worship of idols is spiritual adultery (Ezekiel 23:37).

Engraven image.

And the LORD said unto Moses, Go, get thee down; for thy people, which thou broughtest out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves8They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them: they have made them a molten calf, and have worshipped it, and have sacrificed thereunto, and said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which have brought thee up out of the land of Egypt. 9And the LORD said unto Moses, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiffnecked people: 10Now therefore let me alone, that my wrath may wax hot against them, and that I may consume them: and I will make of thee a great nation. (Exodus 32:7-10).

ENGRAVEN IMAGE. One engraved in wood stone or any other material. that which is engraved in the mind and heart. I’ve heard it many times. We believe in the One God yes their statement of faith and heart held belief is that God is three and three in one. The trinity is therefore an engraved image  forbidden by the Lord. we should ask ourselves why our  church is not blessed. The reason is this we have an idol in our hearts and doctrine and preaching! A doiuble standard, calling God one yet doctrinally in our thinking and praying and teaching he is three in one, which is two more than one. Double idolatry in the house of God

Thy sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another god (Psalm 16:4)

England today is enslaved in roman practices, the roman way to salvation and the worship of roman images in the church of Rome and her daughters, yes in the church. Shiloh where God set his name, (Jeremiah 7:12) in his house, yet he was moved to jealousy by their ENGRAVEN images Lord deliver us from idolotrous practices and places. (Psalm 78:58). When God heard their blasphemy he was wroth and forsoke the place (Psalm 78:59,60).

Come out of her my people that ye be not partakers of her sins and that ye receive not her plagues (Rev 18:4).

The Holiness of God

Can the Immaculate one take pleasure in filthy rags (Isaiah 64:6).
The Lord is glorious in holiness (Exodus 15:11).

God’s nature is Holy, infinitely and immaculately holy described as the Holy One the only only one that is holy. He took on sin and was made sin for us. He knew sin more than any other man because he was holy the pain shame and suffering for him was far greater a burden than it would be for the vilest of human kind, as we all are born in sin and shapen by iniquity but in him was found no sin.

Holiness adorns him
Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness (Psalm 29:2 Psalm 27:4).
His holiness is his most prominent, dominant and excellent attribute and it seems that scripture pays more attention to his holiness than any other attribute. For his holiness adorns him. its his garment and raiment, his power and his nature, his presence and his voice. Holiness adorns him. His justice is holy His wisdom is holy, his arm is a holy arm (Psalm 98:1) his truth is a holy truth (Psalm 105;42). We are exhorted to worship him in the beauty of holiness.

To truly worship him is to adore his name,
‘Ascribe to the LORD the glory due His name; bring an offering and come before Him. Worship the LORD in the splendour of His holiness;’ (Psalm 29:2). There’s a  glory that is due to his name, when we baptise in his name, that too becomes an act of worship. When we lay hands on the sick and pray the pray  of faith in his name  this too becomes  an act of reverence and worship to the one who bears his Holy Name, Jesus,

Did God create sin?
No. Sin entered into the heart of man from external things God did not create sin. The angels that fell form Heaven were created holy (Jude 6) Satan thou wast perfect in in thy ways from the day that thou was created till iniquity was found in thee (Ezekiel 28:15). For one sin Moses was kept form entering Caanan, For one sin Adam and Eve were banished from the garden. For one sin Ananias and Sapphira paid the price of death in Acts. ‘Thou hatest all workers of iniquity’ (Psalm 5:3). All that God created he called good (Genesis 1:1).

And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Thess 5;23).
